San Francisco, CA – April 14, 2003 –
Recruitsoft, Inc., the leading provider of staffing management solutions for large organizations, announced today at its Annual Users’ Conference the industry’s first Staffing Topologies Toolkit to help large, complex organizations map diverse elements that combine to form the organization’s unique staffing environment. The Staffing Topologies Toolkit provides detailed process maps that examine the entire hiring process, step-by-step. Detailing the differences between internal and external staffing processes, staffing models, key business drivers and other processes that might exist across different hire types (professional, campus, executive, hourly and contingent workers) is an essential step in applying staffing technology and metrics most effectively. A complete Staffing Topologies white paper and tool to map Staffing Topologies are available by calling (888.836.3669) or by visiting http://www.taleo.com/research/whitepapers-additional.php.
More than 200 users throughout the world are attending Recruitsoft’s Annual Users' Conference in Phoenix, AZ, from April 13-16. Additionally, Gartner Vice President & Research Director Diane Tunick Morello and Wachovia Securities Senior Equity Director Mark Marcon shared important trends, views and statistics about the Human Capital and Staffing Management industries during the conference.
Recruitsoft Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Louis Tetu stated, "The task of effectively hiring and redeploying talent internally is complicated by the need to meet aggressive hire targets and responsibilities to increase the overall quality-of-hire while staying within strict expense guidelines. Different hire types, business drivers and staffing models require segmented processes for candidates, recruiters and hiring managers that are continuously mapped to an organization's evolving business unit’s needs."
He continued, "It is the right combination of processes, services and staffing technologies that allow organizations to successfully respond to changes in the market and its business lines. As a result of extensive research and investment in best practices and staffing process optimization since our inception in early 1999, our professional service teams have evolved our toolkits and continue to share knowledge and experience with each other and our customers relating to staffing management to ensure each implementation results in favorable ROI and more strategic staffing. Encompassing that knowledge and expertise, we are delighted to offer our customers and the industry, the industry's first staffing topology toolkit that documents, enhances and redefines structured and streamlined processes and services for all hiring needs in any economic environment."
Today, at Recruitsoft's Users Conference, Gartner Vice President & Research Director Diane Morello, stated, “The long-term value of people will ride on their ability to tune actions and decisions to situations and business context. Complexity and pace of business change have fostered a need to reassign people in roles, work and assignments. Organizations need to identify the most important elements to attract, retain and deploy the right talent at the right time. Enterprises must look for roles, opportunities and tools that will enhance people’s competencies, contextual grasp and capacity to generate future value.”
Staffing Topologies Defined
Staffing Topologies represent a new approach to:
The understanding of an organization’s Staffing Topology is critical for today’s HR function in its evolving role as a strategic business partner capable of executing on a comprehensive HCM strategy. A Staffing Topology is the roadmap on which an organization plots its path to staffing optimization. A large number of factors affect how an organization attracts, hires, deploys and redeploys talent. Beginning with the type of position to be filled (Hire Types) and including a host of internal and external business drivers and market considerations (Key Drivers), these factors determine how an organization can best structure its staffing organization (Staffing Model). Key Drivers might include centralized or decentralized staffing resources; imperatives to cut costs or increase quality; mergers and acquisitions; geographic distinctions, economic environments, business cycles, the list can be endless. The sum of these factors comprises a Staffing Topology—a map showing the way to effective and efficient staffing management.
Organizations must also define and evolve metrics to ensure that they are maximizing their return on their staffing investments. Staffing metrics have typically evaluated staffing on a project-by-project, or job function basis and include measurements such as time-to-fill, cost-per-hire and time-to-approval. Other more important metrics, some of which are becoming more prevalent today, include time-to-contribution or productivity, lost productivity cost, quality-of-hire and retention, on an enterprise basis.
Recruitsoft user Susan Steffy, director of staffing, Hyatt Hotels, states, “Retention is important to us and we want our employees to see the lateral and job growth opportunities available to them on an ongoing basis. Recruitsoft allows internal and external candidates to enter and update skills-based profiles, which becomes part of our structured database of talent.” She added, “The right staffing practices really make a difference when we need to hire part-time, hourly and seasonal workers quickly.”
