San Francisco, CA – May 8, 2003 –
iLogos Research (www.ilogos.com), the leading provider of staffing economics research and benchmarking, today released Global 500 Website Recruiting, 2003 Survey, which examines the use of corporate website recruiting as an important component of the staffing process for the world’s 500 largest companies. The study reports that growth in corporate Careers website recruiting remains strong and evaluates geographic and industry specific trends. This study is a continuation of ongoing research conducted annually since 1998 by iLogos Research. The report can be downloaded at www.ilogos.com/en/ilogosreports/iLogosReport2003. iLogos Research is an independent division of Recruitsoft, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise staffing solutions for large organizations.
“Today, 94 percent of the world’s largest organizations have corporate Careers websites. What is remarkable about the results in this study, is that the change between 2002 and 2003 in adoption rate coincides with that of 2001 and 2002, at three percentage points,” stated iLogos Founder & President Yves Lermusiaux.
“With this latest report, we can see how corporate Careers website recruiting fosters the conditions for a truly global workforce. As a medium without geographical borders or limitations, the Internet allows a global company to disseminate its human capital needs to the broadest audience possible,” added Lermusiaux. “The right online talent pool techniques and processes enable corporations to bridge the gap between demand and supply of skilled labor and reduce friction. The visibility and access to jobs around the world will be an additional stimulant for labor migration and a means for corporations to look at their employees, processes and metrics from a global perspective.”
The Trend of a Truly Global Workforce
The Global 500 with corporate Careers websites in 2003 represent 94 percent of European-based companies, 96 percent of Asia-Pacific-based companies and 96 percent of North American-based companies. The near total adoption of corporate website recruiting by the Global 500 indicates the Internet is the accepted medium to attract new talent. With similar practices occuring around the world, website recruiting may be an enabler of a global workforce. The acceleration of regional economic integration in the past two decades has had a profound effect on the global flow of human capital. For instance, the European Union has been a zone of free movement for EU nationals since 1998, and increased industrialization in Southeast Asia has also led to rising levels of migration of skilled talent.
Global 500 Website Recruiting Survey Key Findings:
By Region. This year’s study continues to show Careers website adoption increases by each region. North American and Asia-Pacific regions were found to be two percentage points higher than Europe. The Asia-Pacific region experienced the largest annual growth in adoption of the corporate Careers website.
By Industry. The complete complimentary report also includes the 2003 Careers website adoption rates by industry, including Healthcare, Transportation, Wholesale, Manufacturing, Consumer, High Tech, Natural Resources, Utilities and Financial companies. Some of the significant increases from 2002 to 2003 include:
“In an increasingly global economy, companies that integrate powerful staffing technologies with the right processes and structured centralized databases will streamline enterprise recruiting and staffing processes, globally, and will therefore be well positioned to meet the challenges of global recruiting, which include such complex issues as language, localization, privacy, diversity and accessibility,” added Lermusiaux.
Editor’s Note: More details on the six-year trend can be found in the complete report. The lists of Global 500 and Fortune 500 companies are from Fortune Magazine and represent the largest companies in the world based on gross revenue. Annually, there is some rotation of companies included in the Global 500.
